What does data-driven decision-maker mean? Well to me this is someone who uses data in order to make informed decisions around learning and teaching. As a coach it is important to model this for others through using data when meeting with educators, planning professional development, and even setting personal goals. As the standard says it is important for coaches to use both qualitative and quantitative data when planning professional learning for educators and when talking about and setting goals for the school year. These are just some of the ways that a coach can model this for educators. Through this modeling it allows the coach to show educators ways that they could do this in their own instruction and provides opportunities for coaches and educators to collaborate. Using data to inform decisions can lead to stronger teaching and classroom communities where both teacher and student collaborate around learning goals and instruction.
