The Collaborator standard is all about how coaches work with others. In order to have true collaboration coaches need to build relationships that are built on respect and trust and centered around shared goals and vision. All of the indicators for this standard share the same message, how are coaches working with others? Not against them, not next to them but truly building a partnership. Therefore my role as a coach is to be supportive, listen to the educators needs, push when necessary, and share in the learning. If we can build coaching relationships built on trust and respect then we will be in a better position to work together toward improving student learning. When there is trust people are more willing to open themselves up to feedback and grow from it since they know you are there to support them. So in the end it all comes down to the relationships that we build with others.
